Day 1: St. Lucia

The flight from Atlanta was delayed 2.5 hours, but no one seemed to mind as we all knew that eventually we would begin our week in the West Indies.

Some select photos will accompany these posts here, but some not seen will be referenced and hopefully shared on some future ‘best of the best’ photo set posted here (or linked fro here…). The reason for this precursor is that our fearless leaderette (Kasey) brought along a “The Tin Man” doll to represent her son who was not able to make the trip. No, it’s not that he became ill at the last minute or he changed his mind about accompanying his parents to the far away destination; Ryan is six years old. And as you read on, you’ll have a clear understanding of why a six year old was not part of this gathering.

So, several photos were taken of anyone in our party that slept on the plane. Unbenonced to them, the Tin Man was strategically placed on or near their head and Kasey started a sub-set of photos that is sure to delight the Tin Man’s owner.

We landed around 4:00p in St. Lucia, welcomed by a warm breeze and sunshine. Customs was uneventful except for the fact that Elizabeth and I did not properly complete our forms. We were told to provide an address while visiting St. Lucia. When asked, I simply told the agent that were were going to be on a boat or 7 days. “The name of the boat?” I explained that I had no idea what the name of the boat was, but we looked at me as if I said, “I’m so sorry, let me hunt down the organizers of our party and find out!” Well, that’s exactly what I did.

After being greeted by David and Bobby of Ben’s taxi service (which we highly recommend), we loaded up one van with our luggage and dive gear, then loaded up the second van with ourselves.
